Marktplatz Reutlingen

Reutlingen was awarded market rights by Emperor Friedrich I Barbarossa in around 1180. Cobblestones on the market square showthe outline of the Renaissance Town Hall, which was destroyed in the city fire of 1726. The market fountain was created by Leonhard Baumhauer in 1570 an renovated by Carl Lindenberger in 1901. A sculpture of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor (1527–1576) as a knight is shown on the fountain column.
